control

Control (ie., control) refers to the regulation of the behavior of a system (e.g., a factory, a car, a robot, etc.). It aims to match the outputs produced by a system to a specific purpose, either in response to inputs or to influences from the environment. Control is accomplished using computation, algorithms, system modeling, and technologies such as sensors and actuators.

Robots are an amalgam of mechanical, electrical, and control technologies, but the end result is to realize and control the robot as a physical entity, a mechanical system. For safe and smooth motion of a robot, material mechanics is important to analyze phenomena caused by various forces acting on the robot, especially deformation and vibration of members and joints. In relation to this, it is also necessary to understand the characteristics and properties of various materials used in robot fabrication.
